Christy Van Der Westhuizen has been a sales, marketing and public relations professional for the past 18 years. A summa cum laude graduate of Chapman University in Orange, CA, Christy earned a bachelor’s degree in Film/TV with an emphasis in broadcast journalism and a minor in public relations. Shortly after graduation, she developed a thirst for travel, where she worked as an assistant cruise director/social host (aka “Julie from The Love Boat”) with Holland America Line and traveled to 30 different destinations within six months. After her cruise adventure, Christy entered the title insurance industry as an account executive but finally found her passion for senior living 14 years ago. She began her senior living career as a Director of Sales & Marketing at the community level for multiple Southern California communities, then moved into a regional sales role, and then VP of sales & marketing role. Christy’s favorite part of senior living is having the opportunity to share her positive attitude with others and make a difference every single day, whether it is with a resident, resident’s family, potential resident, team member, or anyone she comes in contact with. Her sales and marketing expertise includes utilizing innovative marketing techniques, cutting-edge digital advertising strategies, training teams in customer service/hospitality, creative database management and impactful sales training.
